Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Photo Poster Exhibition

Runs from from February 21 through March 14, 2010 at Grand Rapids Dominican Center at Marywood; Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2 -6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 noon-4 p.m.

Sunday evening Feb. 28, 7-9 p.m., internet video conference with an A-bomb survivor living in Japan; at the Donnelly Center, Aquinas College. Folding origami paper, a great project for children: Saturday February 27 at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm. Room for quiet reflection. Volunteers will be available to answer questions and provide a listening ear. Films also scheduled; see Marywood website for more.

Women's Empowered Health Workshop

A free workshop, Empowered Women’s Health, takes place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday March 20 at The Bloom Collective, 1134 Wealthy SE. Sessions include:
• Simple Herbal Remedies for Mothers and Others, a presentation by Chrysta Coronado, local herbalist and women’s health advocate. DIY facial and body care recipe exchange.
• De-sanitizing Our Menstrual Health with Rachael Hamilton, a presentation/discussion which will include a DIY pad making activity.
• Women & AIDS: Alive and Well in Kent County, Kelly Knudtson, CleanWorks.
• Expressive Language and Self-esteem with Dance, Painting
and Writing, a participatory session with Zulema Moret, director of Latin American Studies, GVSU

The Bloom will serve morning muffins and coffee. Bring a dish to pass for the potluck lunch. The Bloom will share vegan options. If you can, bring your own comfy folding chair or cushion.
